“Mickey 17” is an American science fiction film directed by Bong Joon-ho, which is scheduled to be released in 2025. The film is based on the novel “Mickey7” by Edward Ashton and tells the story of Mickey Barnes, who works as a so-called “expendable” on a spaceship.

Mickey Barnes hires as an “expendable” on a spaceship with around 200 colonists. As an “expendtable” he is responsible for dangerous tasks such as exploration missions. If he dies, a clone is created, with his memories serving as backup. On the planet Niflheim, Mickey17 is sent ahead to study the ice surface. He is rescued by a “Creeper” when he plunges into a crevasse. Back in the base, he finds that the colonists considered him to be dead and have already created Mickey18, a new clone. In order not to be thrown into the recycler, Mickey17 has to conceal the truth. However, the situation for the colonists is getting worse, as the atmosphere is poisonous and the food is scarce, while the “creators” show interest in the newcomers. The clone tries to save his own life and that of an alien species.
